Founded in 1985, by Robert J D’Anton, AST Development has become one of New Jersey’s most respected and successful real estate development companies.  Throughout the last twenty-five years, AST has provided entitlement, construction management, and general contracting services to several well known corporate, government, and municipal clients. For instance, AST was the sole developer and builder of the former Bear Stearns Corporate Park, which was a 600,000 square foot facility used to house their state-of-the-art data and technology center, as well as, back office support operations.  AST has also focused on the development and redevelopment of its own properties, utilizing their skills and experience to create appealing and efficient products.  Our development properties include distinct apartment complexes located throughout the state, which incorporate functionality and high-end finishes. Our redevelopment skills are showcased with two high-profiled city block developments located in Plainfield and New Brunswick, New Jersey. 

AST’s credentials incorporate all sectors of the industry, including residential, retail, commercial, industrial and affordable housing. AST Development has evolved from a combined development and general contracting/construction management company, to a strictly real estate development and investment company over the past several years.  The decision was made to phase-out the construction side of the business to focus more on our true area of expertise, which is creating value in real estate transactions through our keen insight into the real value of properties, knowledge of the development and entitlement process, and ability to arrange and secure financing (debt and equity). Due to this restructuring, we are able to accomplish more with a smaller staff, and find it best to outsource the design, engineering, and construction contracting to third party firms with established strategic alliances.  Our knowledge and experience enables us to maintain control over the consultants and the processes they facilitate.

Company president and founder, Robert J. D’Anton, maintains involvement in all phases of all projects. The in-house associates focus on financial analysis, design, entitlements, construction, administrative operations, relationship management, marketing, property/asset management, and all other components of a project lifecycle.  We have a select list of outsourced consultants, based on long-standing and solid relationships developed over the last 25 years, including architects, engineers, attorneys, planners, appraisers, market value analysts, brokerage firms, and financial consultants.
